Hillsboro, Oregon
Roofs, siding,
and the people
under them.
I’m Jean Landes. I run a roofing and siding company in Washington County with my husband, Mark, and a crew of about ten.

What we actually do
Allen Exterior Remodeling is a roofing and siding contractor serving Washington County and the greater Portland metro — Hillsboro, Beaverton, Forest Grove, North Plains, and south to Newberg and Oregon City.
- Roofing
- Inspection, repair, full replacement, and roof cleaning.
- Siding
- Replacement and repair, including the dry rot you find once the old siding comes off.
- Manufactured homes
- A specialty of ours: flat and low-slope roofs, TPO and PVC membrane.
- Awnings
- Repair and replacement.
- Dry rot repair
- Around windows and doors, where water has been getting in for a while.
What we don’t do, so nobody wastes a phone call: decks, new window and door installation, framing, new construction, and after-hours emergency calls.
02 — How I got here
I did not grow up planning to sell roofs.
My degree is in studio art. I spent years at home raising a family, and I came to business late and sideways — which turns out to be useful. I notice what a house looks like, not just what it costs to cover.
In 2016 Mark and I took over an established local roofing business and built Allen Exterior Remodeling around it. Ten years on, that means a crew who show up, a yard full of material, payroll every other week, and a phone that rings when somebody’s ceiling is wet.
I run the office side: estimates, scheduling, the licensing and insurance paperwork nobody enjoys, and most of the conversations with homeowners. If you call us, there’s a fair chance you end up talking to me.
03 — The other side
The small thing I keep on the side
Alongside the roofing company, I keep a small part-time business with a wellness and household products company I’ve bought from for about twenty-five years. It’s a handful of hours a week, not a second job, and I’m not going to pitch you on this page.
If you’re curious about what I use, or about how the business side works, ask me and I’ll tell you plainly — including the parts that aren’t for everyone. No claims about money, no claims about health. Just a conversation.
“Ask me and I’ll tell you straight. That’s the whole offer.”

Send me a note
Whatever it’s about — a roof, a question, an introduction — send it. I read these myself and answer during business hours, usually the same day.
Write about whatever you like — a roof, a question, an introduction. If it’s about a job, it helps to include the city.
